Qualifications
  • University degree, preferably in a field related to business or communications
  • 8-10 years of experience in a business communications-related fields like Bid management, Pursuit lead, market coaches, knowledge and experience of competitive proposal processes (ideally in a professional services context)
  • Experience working with a range of business communications media, e.g. writing, presentation, video and animation
  • High intelligence with the ability to absorb new information rapidly and grapple with a wide range of complex business issues
  • Outstanding editing and persuasive writing skills; strong critical reasoning and problem-solving skills; excellent influencing and interpersonal skills
  • High degree of presence, credibility and confidence in working with and coaching senior colleagues
  • Empathy and ability to represent the client’s perspective in a proposal situation
  • Flexibility and the ability to gracefully navigate ambiguity, deadline pressure and conflicting requests
  • Self-motivation, with a talent for working entrepreneurially in an unstructured environment
  • Strong networking skills to build up an internal ‘client base’
  • Team orientation, with a strong sense of commitment to team members and client impact; analytical abilities to identify trends in proposal activity
  • Absolute attention to detail with the ability to prioritise and simultaneously process multiple tasks whilst still being mindful of the big picture; and sensitivity to and discretion in handling confidential information

Who You'll Work With
You’ll work in our Southeast Asia Office between Bangkok, Kuala Lumpur or Jakarta. You will report directly to our Global Proposals Lead and work closely with our global Proposal Team, wider proposal and client communications community, Partners and consultants, Client Development Hubs, and regional and local leadership.What You'll Do
You’ll coach, support and advise McKinsey Partners and their teams working on competitive proposals.
In this role you´ll often work as part of a team which includes experts in design and media, consultants and other disciplines. Typically, consultants and Client Development Hubs will create content and manage the process, and you will ensure our proposal strategies, tactics and communication are clear, compelling and convince clients to work with McKinsey. You will also help develop and encourage local and global best practices, innovate our approach, train consultants and track competitive activity.
You’ll help Partners sharpen competitive proposal strategies, tactics, communication and plans. You’ll help them analyse competitors and stakeholders, distilling insights into winning strategies and guiding them on the tactics and client experiences that will best resonate. You’ll coach teams to engage and communicate effectively with clients and stakeholders throughout proposals.
You’ll help teams translate proposal strategies into compelling value propositions, stories and client experiences. You’ll review and edit critical parts of proposal documents and materials so that they’re clear, creative and convincing. You’ll advise and bring fresh ideas on the best visualisation, media, structure and style. And you’ll help teams deliver winning proposal presentations by brainstorming creative ideas, co-designing experiences, providing constructive feedback and facilitating rehearsals.
You’ll help raise the game on McKinsey proposals, innovating approaches, building skills, and transforming client proposal experiences. You’ll debrief proposal outcomes with clients, providing partners with insights on what we did well and where we could do better. You’ll provide guidance, best practices and input across the client development process and help us win more competitive proposals.
