Job Description
Java Developer

The Applied Intelligence division of BAE Systems delivers solutions which protect and enhance the

The role of a Java Developer is to design, implement and test software code, exploiting leading software

development tools. With high quality and delivery standards, the Software Developer must consistently

deliver quality code on time and within estimates. As part of a development team working from given

software specifications, the Software Developer must be skilled in team collaboration, technical discussion

and elaboration.

  • Designs, codes, tests, corrects, and documents moderately complex programs and program 
  • modifications from technical specifications, using agreed standards and tools. Conducts reviews of 
  • supplied specifications, with others, as appropriate 
  • Provides accurate estimates of development effort needed to design, code and test software from 
  • given specifications 
  • Overcomes development obstacles to deliver quality code on time 
  • Demonstrate high quality standards through delivery of thorough unit testing, peer and code reviews. 
  • Collaborates and negotiates with team members to produce a seamless integration of code into the 
  • solution. 
  • Logically analyses code defects and produces timely code fixes 
  • Conduct code reviews and technical quality evaluations 
  • Produces concise management level progress and quality reports 
  • Ensure project team activities follow agreed processes and encourages good practices 
  • Identifies tracks and mitigates technical risks 
  • Conduct and contributes in technical interviews 
  • Support the client organisation during interface design and data mapping 
  • Becoming a SME in the relevant domain or area of responsibility 
  • Provide technical leadership to the development team 

  • Candidate must be a Malaysian Citizen or currently residing in Malaysia with valid work authority. 
  • Foreign nationals currently working/living in Malaysia can apply. 
  • Candidate must have minimum Bachelors Degree/Post Graduate Diploma specialising in Computer 
  • Science, Information Technology or equivalent. 
  • Must have relevant work experience between 4 years to 10 years or more in Java Development. 
  • Essential to have strong knowledge in JavaEE/Core Java, J2EE web application servers (for 
  • example Tomcat, JBoss, WebLogic, WebSphere), Database (for example: MySQL, DB2, Oracle, 
  • MSSQL), IDE such as Eclipse/Netbeans/IntelliJ (Java) 
  • Highly desirable to have knowledge in Design Patterns, Spring/Swing Framework 
  • Highly desirable to have strong knowledge/experience in programming with database 
  • Candidate is required to have an in-depth working knowledge of Java EE / Core Java, Development 
  • methodologies such as Agile (SCRUM), Waterfall (RUP), ISO, CMMI, Use of code management 
  • tools such as Perforce/Git/SVN/TFS, Defect management/review tools such as Jira/Crucible, HP 
  • Quality center, Rational ClearQuest, Software design and architecture 
  • Essential Linux and networking exposure (e.g. CentOS/Redhat, basis of HTTP/SSL, Wireshark) 
  • Knowledge in virtualisation (VirtualBox, VMware, Vagrant) and CI tools (Jenkins, Hudson) would be 
  • an advantage.
